Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Tasipimidine is a potent and selective **alpha-2A adrenoceptor agonist**, under development primarily for the treatment of **insomnia disorder** in adults. It is administered orally, typically as a liquid solution. Tasipimidine acts by inhibiting the release of noradrenaline from noradrenergic neurons in the brain, thereby reducing central noradrenergic neurotransmission, counteracting arousal, and promoting sedation. Preclinical studies have shown it to produce typical alpha-2 adrenoceptor agonist effects such as sedation, analgesia, and anxiolysis. Tasipimidine is currently being studied in Phase II clinical trials for efficacy and safety in individuals with insomnia disorder. The drug is developed by Orion Corporation/Orion Pharma[1][4][6][7].
