taspoglutide

Taspoglutide is a pharmaceutical drug and a glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonist (GLP-1 agonist) developed for the treatment of type 2 diabetes. It is a long-acting synthetic peptide analog of human GLP-1 with modifications at positions 8 and 35 to increase stability. The drug was co-developed by Ipsen and Roche. It acts by activating the GLP-1 receptor to improve glucose control through enhancement of insulin secretion in response to elevated blood glucose levels. Taspoglutide also has favorable effects on body weight reduction and metabolic syndrome parameters such as waist circumference and fasting triglycerides. The drug was administered via subcutaneous injection once weekly or bi-weekly.
