Drug intelligence / Profile preview
TAT-HOXB4 is a recombinant fusion protein consisting of the human transcription factor homeobox B4 (HOXB4) conjugated to the protein transduction domain of the HIV transactivating protein (TAT). Originally developed by Taiwan Advance Bio-Pharmaceutical (TABP) and subsequently licensed to HeXun Biosciences in 2021, TAT-HOXB4 is designed to promote the ex vivo expansion and self-renewal of hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) and progenitor cells (HSPCs). The TAT cell-penetrating peptide domain enables the macromolecular HOXB4 transcription factor to cross cell membranes and enter the nucleus, where it regulates gene expression to stimulate stem cell proliferation without genomic integration or leukemogenic risk. The drug is being developed as a supportive therapy for cancer patients undergoing chemoradiotherapy to accelerate recovery from neutropenia, and to enhance the success rate of hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT). It is currently in preclinical development.
