Overview

Tat Oyi is a synthetic form of the HIV-1 Tat protein, specifically engineered with mutations that alter its 3D conformation to create unique epitopes. It is being developed as a therapeutic vaccine for HIV infection. The vaccine aims to induce neutralizing antibodies against extracellular Tat, a regulatory protein essential for efficient transcription of the HIV genome and maintenance of viral reservoirs. By targeting Tat, the vaccine seeks to reduce viral rebound after antiretroviral therapy (ART) interruption and potentially diminish the reservoir of infected cells. Clinical trials have shown that Tat Oyi vaccination can generate cross-reactive immune responses against multiple Tat variants and may help control HIV RNA rebound in patients undergoing ART interruption[1][2][3]. The developer is Biosantech[4].
