Tavipec

Tavipec is a herbal medicinal product developed by Pharmazeutische Fabrik Montavit for the treatment of respiratory tract disorders. Its active ingredient is 150 mg of spike lavender oil (*Lavandula latifolia* essential oil), obtained via steam distillation of the flowering tops. Formulated as enteric-coated soft capsules for oral administration, Tavipec acts as a secretolytic and expectorant, facilitating the liquefaction of viscous mucus and enhancing mucociliary clearance. It also exhibits bronchospasmolytic, antiseptic, and anti-inflammatory properties. The drug is primarily indicated for the treatment of acute and chronic rhinosinusitis, acute and chronic bronchitis, and coughs associated with the common cold. The enteric coating ensures that the essential oil is released in the small intestine, avoiding gastric irritation and ensuring systemic absorption to reach the respiratory tract.
