Overview

TAVO103A is a novel humanized monoclonal antibody targeting interleukin-1 beta (IL-1β), developed for the treatment of chronic inflammation and other IL-1β-mediated diseases. It has undergone Fc engineering to reduce binding to Fcγ receptors, increase affinity for neonatal Fc receptor (FcRn), and enhance resistance to proteolytic degradation, resulting in an extended half-life compared to similar agents. In preclinical studies, TAVO103A demonstrated potent neutralization of IL-1β activity—surpassing canakinumab—in various cellular assays and animal models. The antibody recognizes a distinct epitope on IL-1β, contributing to its improved efficacy profile. A Phase 1 clinical trial in healthy volunteers showed that TAVO103A was safe, well tolerated, and had a median half-life of 63 days[1][3][7]. It is being developed using Tavotek Biotherapeutics' proprietary TavoPrecise antibody platform[4].
