tavolimab

Tavolimab (MEDI0562) is a humanized IgG1 monoclonal antibody that acts as an agonist of the OX40 (CD134) receptor, a costimulatory molecule belonging to the tumor necrosis factor receptor superfamily. Developed by MedImmune (a subsidiary of AstraZeneca), tavolimab is designed to enhance anti-tumor immunity by binding to OX40 on activated T cells, thereby promoting their proliferation, survival, and effector functions. It also potentially reduces the immunosuppressive activity of regulatory T cells (Tregs) within the tumor microenvironment. Clinical evaluation has primarily focused on Phase 1 trials for advanced solid tumors, including squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck (HNSCC) and melanoma, where it has been studied both as a single agent and in combination with other immune checkpoint inhibitors.
