Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Tawon Liar is a product marketed as an "all-natural" herbal supplement for pain, rheumatism, insomnia, immune support, increased energy, and lowering cholesterol. FDA analysis has determined that it contains three undeclared pharmaceutical ingredients: meloxicam (a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug, NSAID), ketorolac (an NSAID), and dexamethasone (a corticosteroid). Meloxicam and ketorolac exert anti-inflammatory effects by inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis through cyclooxygenase (COX) enzyme inhibition. Dexamethasone acts as a glucocorticoid agonist, suppressing multiple inflammatory pathways. The inclusion of these pharmaceuticals in an unregulated supplement poses significant health risks, including increased risk for cardiovascular events, gastrointestinal bleeding, adrenal suppression, impaired immune response, hyperglycemia, and adverse drug interactions. These risks are heightened because the ingredients are undisclosed and use is unsupervised, potentially leading to severe adverse events and drug-induced conditions such as vasculitis and adrenal insufficiency[1][2][3][5][6][8].
