Overview

Taxane + carboplatin is a combination chemotherapy regimen consisting of a taxane (most commonly paclitaxel or docetaxel) and carboplatin. This combination is widely used to treat various solid tumors, including ovarian, lung, breast (notably triple-negative and HER2-positive), endometrial (womb), and cervical cancers. Taxanes work by stabilizing microtubules in cancer cells, thereby inhibiting cell division and promoting apoptosis. Carboplatin is a platinum-based agent that causes DNA crosslinking and prevents DNA replication in rapidly dividing cells. The two drugs are typically administered intravenously in cycles every 3–4 weeks. The combination has demonstrated improved efficacy over single-agent therapy or older regimens such as cisplatin-based combinations for certain cancers[1][3][5][6].
