As described in clinical trial NCT03824301, the regimen consists of the anthracycline epirubicin (Pharmorubicin) and a taxane, specifically a liposomal formulation of paclitaxel. Epirubicin acts by intercalating into DNA and inhibiting topoisomerase II, which prevents DNA replication and triggers cell death. Paclitaxel liposome stabilizes microtubules, arresting the cell cycle in the G2/M phase and inducing apoptosis. This combination is administered intravenously to reduce tumor size and eliminate micrometastases prior to surgery, with treatment response monitored through changes in circulating tumor cells (CTCs).
