Overview
TaxCTL-2402 is an autologous, Tax-specific redirected cytotoxic T-cell (CTL) therapy being developed for the treatment of adult T-cell leukemia/lymphoma (ATL). The product is manufactured by isolating lymphocytes from patients infected with human T-cell leukemia virus type 1 (HTLV-1) and engineering them to express a T-cell receptor (TCR) that specifically recognizes the HTLV-1 Tax protein. Tax is a viral oncogene that plays a central role in the transformation and survival of ATL cells. By redirecting the patient's own immune system to target this viral antigen, TaxCTL-2402 aims to provide a targeted therapeutic option for patients who have relapsed, are refractory to standard treatments, or are ineligible for allogeneic stem cell transplantation. The therapy is currently undergoing Phase I/II clinical evaluation in Japan.
