Overview
The **TAXUS Liberté-SR** is a drug-eluting coronary stent system designed to improve luminal diameter in native coronary arteries for the treatment of de novo lesions. It consists of a **balloon-expandable Liberte stent** (316L stainless steel) coated with a polymer matrix containing **1 µg/mm² of paclitaxel** in a *slow-release (SR)* formulation. Paclitaxel, the active ingredient, is an antimicrotubule agent that inhibits neointimal hyperplasia by stabilizing microtubules and preventing their depolymerization, thereby blocking cell proliferation in the vessel wall after stent implantation[1][5]. The stent is indicated for use in vessels 2.25–4.00 mm in diameter and lesions up to 28 mm in length[1]. TAXUS Liberté-SR is comparable in drug release kinetics and efficacy to the TAXUS Express-SR stent, but features thinner and more uniform struts for enhanced deliverability[5].
