Overview

TAZCOV is an investigational herbal medicinal product developed by the Natural Chemotherapeutics Research Institute (NCRI) in Uganda. It is intended for the treatment of acute respiratory viral infections, specifically targeting SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19), Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV), and Influenza A and B. The product was developed as part of Uganda's national response to the COVID-19 pandemic and is currently undergoing Phase 2 clinical evaluation to determine its safety, pharmacokinetics, and efficacy in promoting viral clearance and reducing the time to symptom resolution in adult patients. As a botanical therapeutic, it is hypothesized to exert antiviral and immunomodulatory effects through its complex mixture of natural active ingredients.
