Drug intelligence / Profile preview
TB0001 (also known as TB0001-EAP05) is an ophthalmic solution of pregabalin under development by Tavo Biotherapeutics for the treatment of primary open-angle glaucoma and ocular hypertension. Pregabalin is a small molecule gabapentinoid that selectively binds to the alpha-2-delta auxiliary subunits of voltage-gated calcium channels. In this topical ophthalmic formulation, TB0001 is designed to lower intraocular pressure (IOP) and provide neuroprotection. It is being evaluated in clinical trials, including a Phase 2 randomized, active-controlled study in patients with primary open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension, to assess its safety, tolerability, and efficacy in reducing IOP compared to standard-of-care timolol.
