Drug intelligence / Profile preview
TB0001-EAP05 is an investigational topical ophthalmic solution of pregabalin, a gabapentinoid small molecule, being developed by Tavo Biotherapeutics for the treatment of primary open-angle glaucoma and ocular hypertension. The drug acts by binding to the alpha-2-delta (α2δ) subunit of voltage-gated calcium channels, a mechanism intended to lower intraocular pressure and potentially provide neuroprotective effects to the ocular tissues. It is currently being evaluated in Phase 1 clinical trials to assess its safety, tolerability, and efficacy in comparison to the prostaglandin analogue latanoprost.
