TBL12

TBL12 is an orally administered liquid gel extract derived from sea cucumbers, which has been commercially available as a food supplement since 1981. It contains bioactive compounds like sphingolipids and glycosides. [7] Preclinical and clinical studies have investigated its potential as an anti-cancer agent, particularly for multiple myeloma. [2, 3] Its proposed mechanisms of action include inducing programmed cell death (apoptosis) in tumor cells, anti-angiogenesis, and inhibiting osteoclastogenesis. [2, 7] A Phase II clinical trial sponsored by NYU Langone Health evaluated TBL12 in patients with asymptomatic multiple myeloma to determine if it could delay disease progression; the trial was stopped in December 2013.
