Overview
TBS-7 is an albuterol sulfate dry powder inhaler (DPI) developed by Acerus Pharmaceuticals (formerly Trimel Pharmaceuticals) for the treatment of asthma. The product utilizes the proprietary Trivair deposition system, a single-dose delivery technology designed to provide efficient lung deposition of the active ingredient. As a short-acting beta-2 adrenergic receptor agonist (SABA), albuterol works by stimulating beta-2 receptors on airway smooth muscle, leading to relaxation and bronchodilation to relieve symptoms of bronchoconstriction. TBS-7 was evaluated in Phase 2 clinical trials (such as NCT01252758) to assess its efficacy and safety compared to traditional pressurized metered-dose inhalers (pMDIs) in patients with intermittent or persistent mild asthma.
