TBX101 is a preclinical, phage-based nanomedicine in development by the Israeli company Trobix Bio. It is engineered to combat antimicrobial resistance by targeting antibiotic-resistant bacteria residing in the gut. The therapy utilizes a platform that combines engineered phages with CRISPR technology to deliver DNA payloads specifically to these 'superbugs'. The intended mechanism is to modify the bacteria to restore their sensitivity to antibiotics, addressing a critical unmet need in hospitalized patients at high risk. [2, 5, 6] The technology platform behind TBX101 includes the proprietary ActiSense™ and GoTrap™ technologies.
