Drug intelligence / Profile preview
TCAP refers to the **teneurin C-terminal associated peptide** or **TCAP-1**, a bioactive neuropeptide sequence found at the C-terminus of the teneurin protein family. TCAP-1 has been investigated for its potential neuromodulatory, anxiolytic, and behavioral effects, such as reducing stress- and addiction-related behaviors. In preclinical and patent literature, TCAP-1 is examined for possible therapeutic use in neuropsychiatric and addictive disorders, including opioid addiction. The mechanism of action is not fully defined but is believed to involve modulation of corticotropin-releasing factor signaling and regulation of glutamatergic and opioid-related neurocircuitry[2].
