Drug intelligence / Profile preview
TCJ2 mRNA vaccine is an experimental lipid nanoparticle (LNP)-formulated mRNA vaccine candidate designed for the prevention and treatment of Chagas disease, which is caused by the protozoan parasite *Trypanosoma cruzi*. Identified through mass spectrometry-based immunopeptidomics, the vaccine encodes the Tcj2 protein, a highly conserved trypanosome chaperone protein belonging to the DnaJ (heat shock protein 40) family. In preclinical murine models, the vaccine has been shown to elicit robust antigen-specific CD8+ cytotoxic T cell responses and a Th1-skewed humoral antibody response, which significantly restricts *T. cruzi* replication in vitro without cross-reacting with human or mouse DnaJ orthologs.
