Drug intelligence / Profile preview
TCM-padia001 is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal formula developed by the Tianjin Medical University Cancer Institute and Hospital for the prevention and treatment of pyrotinib-induced diarrhea. Pyrotinib is an irreversible pan-HER tyrosine kinase inhibitor used to treat HER2-positive metastatic breast cancer, but it is associated with high rates of gastrointestinal toxicity. This oral TCM formula is intended for patients whose diarrhea is refractory to standard antidiarrheal treatments such as loperamide or montmorillonite powder. In a Phase 2 clinical trial (NCT04988165), the formula demonstrated efficacy in reducing the severity of diarrhea and improving the quality of life for breast cancer patients undergoing pyrotinib therapy.
