Overview

TCN-032 is a human monoclonal IgG1 antibody developed to target a highly conserved epitope on the extracellular domain of the Matrix protein 2 (M2) protein of Influenza A virus (M2e) of influenza A viruses. It was designed as a universal therapeutic agent for all strains of influenza A, including highly pathogenic and pandemic variants such as H5N1, H1N1, and emerging strains like H7N9. The mechanism involves binding to the M2e region present in virtually all influenza A virus strains; this binding triggers antibody-mediated effector functions that result in lysis of infected cells and viral clearance. Clinical studies have shown that TCN-032 can reduce clinical symptoms and viral load in experimental human influenza infection without significant safety concerns or evidence of immune exacerbation. The drug was developed using Theraclone Sciences' I-STAR technology[1][6][8].
