Overview

TCN-202 is a recombinant, fully human monoclonal antibody developed for the treatment and prevention of cytomegalovirus (CMV) infections. It was discovered using Theraclone Sciences’ I-STAR platform, which identifies natural human antibodies with broad biologic activity. TCN-202 targets a universal protein within CMV variants, aiming to provide broad protection against the virus and reduce the risk of drug resistance due to viral mutations. The drug has been investigated particularly for use in immunocompromised individuals and congenital CMV infection, where complications can be severe or life-threatening. It received orphan drug designation for congenital CMV infection but development has since been discontinued[4][5][6][7][8][10].
