Overview

TCR-T016 is an autologous T-cell receptor (TCR) engineered T-cell therapy being developed by Protheragen for the treatment of NY-ESO-1-positive cancers. NY-ESO-1 (New York esophageal squamous cell carcinoma 1) is a cancer-testis antigen that is highly expressed in various malignancies, including synovial sarcoma, melanoma, and multiple myeloma, while remaining largely absent in healthy adult tissues. The therapy involves isolating a patient's T cells and genetically modifying them to express a TCR specific for NY-ESO-1 peptides presented by major histocompatibility complex (MHC) molecules. Once re-infused, these engineered T cells are designed to recognize and kill tumor cells expressing the target antigen. TCR-T016 is currently in the discovery phase of development.
