Overview
StarBio's Tdap is a combination vaccine candidate currently in Phase 2 development for the prevention of tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis (whooping cough). As a "Tdap" vaccine, it contains a reduced dose of diphtheria toxoid and acellular pertussis antigens compared to the pediatric DTaP vaccine, making it suitable for booster immunization in adolescents and adults. The vaccine works by inducing active immunity through the production of neutralizing antibodies against the toxins produced by *Clostridium tetani* and *Corynebacterium diphtheriae*, as well as specific antigens from *Bordetella pertussis*. The acellular pertussis (aP) component is designed to provide protection with a lower risk of adverse reactions compared to whole-cell pertussis vaccines.
