Overview

TE-HA refers to two distinct but related entities in biotechnology and pharmacology. Most commonly, it is a chemical abbreviation for **Tetrazine-modified Hyaluronic Acid**, a critical component of the **click-crosslinked hyaluronic acid (Cx-HA)** hydrogel system. This system utilizes a biorthogonal Diels-Alder click crosslinking reaction between tetrazine (TE) and trans-cyclooctene (TC) to form injectable, self-healing hydrogels with prolonged residence times in vivo. These hydrogels are being investigated for applications in regenerative medicine, including intra-articular drug delivery for **rheumatoid arthritis** and **osteoarthritis**, as well as scaffolds for **bone tissue engineering**. Separately, in the context of oral medicine, **TE-HA MN** refers to a multifunctional microneedle (MN) patch formulation composed of **hyaluronic acid (HA)** and loaded with **triamcinolone acetonide (TA)** and **epidermal growth factor (EGF)**. This formulation is designed for the treatment of **recurrent aphthous stomatitis (RAS)**, where the microneedles provide rapid drug release and enhanced mucosal adhesion to promote ulcer healing and alleviate pain.
