The eye spray formulation is particularly notable for its use of liposomes (phospholipids) that integrate into and stabilize the lipid layer of the tear film. This action helps to reinforce the eye's natural protective barrier, significantly reducing the evaporation of the aqueous layer of the tears, which is a leading cause of evaporative dry eye.
