TEC-001

TEC-001 is a first-in-class, tirapazamine-based therapeutic agent being developed by Teclison for use in Trans-Arterial TEC-001 Embolization (TATE) therapy to induce targeted necrosis of solid tumors, particularly in the liver.[5][15] TATE combines intra-arterial delivery of TEC-001 with embolization to exploit tumor hypoxia, where tirapazamine is bioactivated under low-oxygen conditions to generate cytotoxic free radicals and DNA damage selectively in hypoxic tumor cells while sparing normoxic tissue.[5][15] In early-stage clinical studies in unresectable liver cancer, TEC-001 with conventional trans-arterial chemoembolization showed a favorable safety profile and promising anti-tumor activity, and is being further evaluated in Phase 2 trials in combination with immune checkpoint inhibitors for liver, colorectal, and lung cancers.[5]
