Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Techglim-M2 Forte is an oral fixed-dose combination tablet containing glimepiride (2 mg) and sustained-release metformin (1000 mg), developed by Cytech Pharma for the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus. Glimepiride is a second-generation sulfonylurea that stimulates insulin secretion from pancreatic beta cells by binding to sulfonylurea receptors and closing ATP-sensitive potassium channels. Metformin is a biguanide that improves glycemic control by decreasing hepatic glucose production, reducing intestinal glucose absorption, and enhancing insulin sensitivity in peripheral tissues. Together, these agents provide complementary mechanisms of action to effectively lower blood glucose levels in patients whose diabetes is not adequately controlled by diet, exercise, or monotherapy.
