TECHIDA is a diagnostic radiopharmaceutical cold kit developed by Izotop (Institute of Isotopes Co. Ltd.) for use in Single Photon Emission Computed Tomography (SPECT) imaging of the hepatobiliary system. The kit contains 30 mg of etifenin (diethyl-acetanilid-imino diacetic acid) as the active ligand. Upon reconstitution with sodium pertechnetate (99mTc), it forms the Technetium (99mTc) etifenin complex. This complex is an iminodiacetic acid (IDA) derivative that mimics the metabolic pathway of bilirubin; it is rapidly cleared from the blood by hepatocytes and excreted into the biliary tract. TECHIDA is primarily indicated for the dynamic examination of hepatocyte function, evaluation of liver transplants, diagnosis of acute cholecystitis, and the assessment of biliary flow disorders such as ductal blockages.
