Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Technegas** is a technetium Tc 99m-labeled ultrafine carbon inhalation aerosol used for nuclear-medicine ventilation imaging. It is prepared immediately before use by adding sodium pertechnetate Tc 99m to a single-use graphite crucible and processing it in the Technegas Plus System, producing a gas-like radioactive carbon aerosol for inhalation. Gamma emissions from technetium Tc 99m enable scintigraphic visualization of regional pulmonary ventilation and, when paired with perfusion imaging, evaluation of pulmonary embolism. Technegas was developed by Cyclomedica and Cyclopharm and is FDA approved in the United States for adults and pediatric patients aged 6 years and older.
