Drug intelligence / Profile preview
HYNIC-TOC (hydrazinonicotinyl-Tyr3-octreotide) is a somatostatin analog-based radiopharmaceutical precursor designed for technetium-99m (99mTc) labeling, used in single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) imaging of somatostatin receptor-positive tumors. It consists of the somatostatin analog Tyr3-octreotide (TOC) conjugated to the hydrazinonicotinamide (HYNIC) chelator, which enables efficient radiolabeling with 99mTc, often using ethylenediamine-N,N'-diacetic acid (EDDA) as a co-ligand. The radiolabeled compound, technetium (99mTc) hynic-octreotide, binds with high affinity to somatostatin receptor subtype 2 (SSTR2) overexpressed on neuroendocrine tumors (NETs), triggering receptor-mediated internalization and allowing high-contrast visualization of primary and metastatic lesions. It is developed by Polatom (marketed under the brand name Tektrotyd) and Aprin Sama Pharmed.
