Overview

Technetium-99m antimony sulphide colloid is a radiopharmaceutical diagnostic agent composed of antimony sulphide particles radiolabelled with the gamma-emitting radioisotope technetium-99m. It is primarily used as a radiotracer for lymphoscintigraphy to map lymphatic drainage and identify sentinel lymph nodes in patients with cancers such as breast cancer, cutaneous melanoma, and prostatic carcinoma. The small particle size of the colloid (typically 3 to 30 nm) allows for rapid migration into the interstitial space and lymphatic channels, where it is taken up by reticuloendothelial cells and macrophages in the lymph nodes. This enables non-invasive imaging of lymphatic pathways using a gamma camera or SPECT/CT. The agent has been manufactured as a preparation kit under the brand name Lymph-Flo by the Royal Adelaide Hospital Radiopharmacy and is approved for clinical use in Australia and New Zealand, though it is not FDA-approved in the United States.
