Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Technetium-99m fibroblast growth factor 2 (99mTc-FGF2) is a radiolabeled recombinant human fibroblast growth factor 2 (hrFGF2) conjugated with the heterobifunctional chelator 6-hydrazinonicotinamide (HYNIC) and labeled with the gamma-emitting radioisotope technetium-99m [EP-538]. It is being developed as a diagnostic radiopharmaceutical for the early detection of cancer metastases and imaging of tumor-associated fibroblasts (TAFs). 99mTc-FGF2 specifically targets fibroblast growth factor receptor 2 (FGFR2), particularly the FGFR2c isoform, which is overexpressed during the epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) in early-stage tumors [EP-538].
