Technetium-99m-methylene diphosphonate is a radiopharmaceutical used primarily as a bone imaging agent in nuclear medicine. It consists of the gamma-emitting radionuclide technetium‑99m complexed with methylene diphosphonate (MDP), a bisphosphonate that binds to hydroxyapatite crystals in bone. After intravenous injection, it localizes to areas of increased osteogenesis or altered bone metabolism, allowing for detection and imaging of various bone pathologies using single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT). It is widely used for diagnosing conditions such as fractures, osteomyelitis, malignancies including bone metastases, and other disorders affecting skeletal turnover[2][4][5][9].
