**Technetium-99m stannous colloid** is a diagnostic radiopharmaceutical consisting of technetium-99m associated with stannous colloid particles. It is used principally to label autologous leukocytes ex vivo for white-cell scintigraphy. Neutrophils and monocytes phagocytose the colloid, after which the radiolabeled cells can localize to inflammatory or infectious sites and be detected by gamma-camera imaging. Published studies describe its use for imaging inflammation, occult infection, inflammatory bowel disease activity, and gram-negative infection-associated alterations in leukocyte phagocytic function.
