Overview

Technetium Tc-99m albumin diethylenetriaminepentaacetic acid (99mTc-HSA-D) is a radiopharmaceutical diagnostic agent developed by Nihon Medi-Physics. It consists of human serum albumin (HSA) labeled with the radioisotope technetium-99m using diethylenetriaminepentaacetic acid (DTPA) as a stable chelating agent. This specific chelation method provides high in-vivo stability and a prolonged blood retention rate compared to other HSA labeling techniques, making it an ideal tracer for blood pool imaging and the detection of protein leakage. Its primary clinical applications include protein leakage scintigraphy for diagnosing protein-losing gastroenteropathy, mammary lymphoscintigraphy for sentinel lymph node detection in breast cancer patients, and the evaluation of renal protein loss in nephrotic syndrome.
