Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Technetium Tc 99m anti-CD4 Fab fragment is a diagnostic radiopharmaceutical composed of a Fab fragment of an anti-CD4 antibody labeled with the radioisotope Technetium-99m (99mTc). The anti-CD4 Fab fragment specifically targets and binds to CD4 antigens, which are predominantly found on the surface of T-helper lymphocytes. This specific binding allows for the visualization and imaging of CD4-positive cells within the body using Single-Photon Emission Computed Tomography (SPECT), as the 99mTc radioisotope emits detectable gamma rays. The use of a Fab fragment, a smaller portion of an antibody, is intended to facilitate faster clearance from the bloodstream and improve image contrast compared to intact antibodies. This agent has been explored in research settings for its potential in diagnostic imaging of inflammatory conditions, such as arthritis, and for detecting the presence of CD4-positive cell infiltrates in various diseases, including certain cancers.
