Drug intelligence / Profile preview
technetium Tc 99m butedronate (commonly known as 99mTc-DPD) is a technetium-99m-labeled bisphosphonate radiopharmaceutical used as a diagnostic imaging agent. It is primarily utilized in bone scintigraphy to detect areas of altered osteogenesis, such as bone metastases, osteomyelitis, and other skeletal disorders. Additionally, 99mTc-DPD is highly effective and widely used in cardiac scintigraphy for the non-invasive diagnosis of transthyretin cardiac amyloidosis (ATTR-CA), where it binds to calcium-rich microcalcifications associated with amyloid deposits in the myocardium. The drug is marketed under the brand name Teceos by Curium.
