Overview

EP1645 is a radiopharmaceutical imaging agent consisting of a Fab fragment of a monoclonal antibody directed against human CD4, labeled with the radionuclide technetium-99m (Tc99m). Developed by Biotectid GmbH, it is specifically designed to detect and quantify joint inflammation in patients with active rheumatoid arthritis. The agent works by binding to CD4-positive T-lymphocytes, which are key drivers of the inflammatory process and are found in high concentrations within the synovial tissue of affected joints. By localizing to these cells, EP1645 enables non-invasive visualization of disease activity through scintigraphy or SPECT imaging, potentially aiding in the diagnosis and monitoring of treatment response in autoimmune conditions.
