Technetium Tc-99m isonitrile glucosamine (99mTc-CN-DG) is a technetium-labeled glucose derivative developed by Beijing Shihong Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. as a diagnostic radiopharmaceutical. It is designed for the imaging of malignant tumors, specifically non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), using Single Photon Emission Computed Tomography (SPECT). The molecule acts as a glucose analog, entering cells via glucose transporters (primarily GLUT1), which are overexpressed in many cancer types due to increased glycolytic demand (the Warburg effect). Unlike 18F-FDG, which requires PET imaging, 99mTc-CN-DG utilizes the more widely available SPECT technology, potentially providing a more cost-effective and accessible diagnostic tool for tumor metabolic imaging.
