Technetium Tc 99m radiocolloid

Technetium Tc 99m radiocolloid refers to a group of radiopharmaceutical diagnostic agents, including Technetium Tc 99m albumin nanocolloid (e.g., Nanocoll, Rotop-nanoHSA) and Technetium Tc 99m rhenium sulfide colloid (e.g., Nanocis), used for sentinel lymph node (SLN) mapping. In the context of the SENTIRAD Phase 3 clinical trial (NCT02570984) led by Centre Oscar Lambret, these agents are administered via intracervical injection to patients with early-stage endometrial carcinoma at intermediate or high risk of recurrence. The radiocolloid particles migrate through the lymphatic system and are trapped in the sentinel nodes, primarily through phagocytosis by macrophages. This allows for the detection and visualization of the sentinel nodes using planar scintigraphy or SPECT-CT imaging, facilitating accurate nodal staging and potentially sparing patients from the morbidity of full bilateral lymphadenectomy.
