Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Technetium Tc 99m tetrofosmin, marketed under the brand name Myoview by GE Healthcare, is a radioactive diagnostic agent used in nuclear medicine cardiac imaging. It is a lipophilic cationic small molecule radiopharmaceutical complexed with the radioisotope technetium-99m. Myoview is indicated for myocardial perfusion imaging (MPI) using single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) to delineate regions of reversible myocardial ischemia or infarcted myocardium in patients with known or suspected coronary artery disease. The agent is rapidly taken up by viable myocardial tissue via passive diffusion and accumulates within mitochondria, reflecting regional blood flow. It is also used to assess left ventricular function, including ejection fraction and wall motion.
