Technospiron

Technospiron is a monophasic combined oral contraceptive pill (COCP) containing 0.03 mg of ethinyl estradiol and 3 mg of drospirenone. Ethinyl estradiol is a synthetic estrogen that suppresses follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and provides endometrial stability, while drospirenone is a fourth-generation progestin that inhibits ovulation by suppressing luteinizing hormone (LH). Drospirenone is chemically related to spironolactone and possesses unique anti-mineralocorticoid and anti-androgenic properties, which help minimize estrogen-related water retention and androgenic side effects like acne. In clinical research conducted by Benha University, Technospiron was evaluated for its efficacy in managing symptomatic abnormal uterine bleeding (AUB) specifically related to a uterine niche (cesarean scar defect), where it works by thinning the endometrial lining and regulating the menstrual cycle to reduce niche-related spotting and heavy bleeding.
