TEE-MPS2 is a preclinical-stage drug candidate being developed by Apteeus for the treatment of Mucopolysaccharidosis type 2 (MPS II), also known as Hunter syndrome. The candidate was identified through Apteeus's proprietary TEEp (Therapeutic Evidence Enhancement) platform, which utilizes high-throughput screening of libraries containing thousands of existing, approved drugs to identify potential new therapeutic applications for rare genetic disorders. MPS II is a rare, X-linked lysosomal storage disease characterized by a deficiency of the enzyme iduronate-2-sulfatase, which leads to the toxic accumulation of glycosaminoglycans in various tissues and organs. TEE-MPS2 represents a drug repositioning strategy intended to provide a novel treatment option for this progressive and multi-systemic condition.
