Overview

TEE886 is a small molecule therapeutic candidate being developed by Apteeus for the treatment of ACOX1 deficiency, a rare peroxisomal disorder also known as pseudoneonatal adrenoleukodystrophy. The condition is characterized by mutations in the ACOX1 gene, which leads to a deficiency in the enzyme acyl-CoA oxidase 1 and the subsequent toxic accumulation of very-long-chain fatty acids (VLCFAs). TEE886 is designed to target ACOX1 to address the underlying metabolic defect. As of late 2021, the program is in Phase 1 clinical development.
