Overview
Tegaserod + polyethylene glycol 3350 is a combination of two agents used for the management of constipation and related gastrointestinal disorders. Tegaserod is a serotonin-4 (5-HT4) receptor agonist that stimulates peristalsis and increases intestinal fluid secretion, primarily indicated for irritable bowel syndrome with constipation (IBS-C) in women under 65 years old. Polyethylene glycol 3350 is an osmotic laxative that retains water in the stool to increase stool frequency and soften consistency, commonly used for occasional or chronic constipation. Both drugs act via different mechanisms to improve bowel function; their combination may be considered in clinical practice but does not represent a single approved pharmaceutical product[1][2][6][8].
