Overview

Tegilidine (艾苏特, Fumasuan Taijiliding) is China's first independently developed Class 1 innovative drug, a biased μ-opioid receptor agonist. Developed by Jiangsu Hengrui Medicine Co., Ltd., it was approved in China in 2024 for the treatment of moderate to severe postoperative pain, including pain after abdominal and orthopedic surgeries. Its mechanism involves preferentially activating the G-protein pathway of the μ-opioid receptor, aiming to provide effective analgesia with a potentially improved safety profile compared to traditional μ-opioid receptor agonists by reducing activation of the β-arrestin2 signaling pathway, which is associated with common opioid side effects.
