teglirandine

Teglirandine (SHR-1501) is a small molecule agonist of the G protein-coupled receptor 139 (GPR139), currently under development by Jiangsu Hengrui Pharmaceuticals. GPR139 is an orphan receptor primarily expressed in the habenula and striatum, regions of the brain associated with the regulation of dopamine and other neurotransmitters involved in psychiatric and neurological conditions. Teglirandine is being investigated for the treatment of schizophrenia, with a particular focus on addressing negative symptoms and cognitive deficits that are often poorly managed by conventional antipsychotics. By activating GPR139, the drug aims to modulate neuronal circuitry to improve clinical outcomes in patients with psychiatric disorders.
