Tegoprazan is a small molecule drug classified as a potassium-competitive acid blocker (P-CAB), developed for the treatment of acid-related gastrointestinal diseases such as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), peptic ulcers, and erosive oesophagitis. Unlike traditional proton pump inhibitors (PPIs), tegoprazan directly and reversibly inhibits the gastric H+/K+-ATPase enzyme in a potassium-competitive manner, without requiring conversion to an active form. This results in rapid onset and sustained control of gastric pH, with efficacy independent of food intake or baseline acid levels. Tegoprazan was originally discovered by RaQualia Pharma and further developed by CJ Healthcare Corp (now HK inno.N Corporation). It has been approved for use in several countries including South Korea, China, Chile, Peru, and Singapore under various brand names[1][2][3][4][5].
